Méphisto 'Appel-à-Froid' Lachance “The Devil Who Never Took No for an Answer”
Lachance played Satan as a fast-talking sales director with a telephone in each hand and a third tucked under his chin. His legendary pitch speech, delivered in a single breath, ran four minutes and fifty seconds and left the sound crew gasping on his behalf. He was, by every account, the gentlest man at the studio, and spent his breaks knitting scarves for the extras.
