I Was a Zombie Recruiter!

1954 · Retro-Canadian Data Pictures · Approved by the Canadian Board of Data Security

Tired of Interacting with the Undead?

In a mist-shrouded swamp on the edge of the tech sector, a bloated keyword algorithm drains thousands of recruiters of their humanity. The resulting Zombie Drones can't read for context, answer a follow-up email or make eye contact. They only hoard resumes in basement filing cabinets and moan "Reee-jeeect..." at the walls. The Data Queen patches the source servers while AIDA leads the survivors home with warm coffee and real human feedback.

Incidents & Hazards

Rudy the Bad Actor as Zombie Drone #83Incident ReportWalked face-first into a stationary tree limb. Camera crane crushed.

Rudy plays "Zombie Drone #83" in thick green paint. Unwilling to tilt his head and risk his pompadour, he shuffles straight into an oak branch, knocks himself out cold and flattens a rented camera crane.

On the first take he tripped over an exposed root instead. The oak branch was take two. The camera crane survived neither.

Notes from the Set

Director's Note“Rudy's screen time before the concussion: 1.4 seconds. His grunt of agony was looped to make the swamp sound effects.”

Trivia

  • The 'Zombie Drones' were explicitly told not to blink during group shots, leading to a studio-wide breakout of dry-eye layout issues that ground production to a halt.
  • Rudy’s head-on collision with the oak tree branch was completely unscripted—the green face paint had smeared across his safety goggles, blinding his layout line tracking.
  • The massive pile of resumes hoarded in the dark basement layout were actual expired 1940s insurance claims discovered in the studio storage lockers.
  • Jennie's quarantine gate prop fell completely off its hinges during Scene 3, nearly trapping two background zombies underneath its heavy canvas frame.
  • The Data Queen’s syntax-check patch device was just a modified adding machine that sprayed real paper tape directly across the camera lens.
